Youth Development
Mission: To coordinate a consolidated and integrated youth employment network that matches employees with qualified youth workers.
The Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board (TRWIB) is involved in several initiatives designed to prepare youth for success in the workplace.
The TRWIB works with local schools to prepare youth for success in the workplace through an initiative called Educators and Employers Engaged for Excellence (E4). Underwritten by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, E4 provides support and assistance to foster partnerships between educators and employers. districts. |

| The TRWIB
was one of several
sponsors of "Imagine
What You Can Be In Pittsburgh: A Youth Workforce
Development Week," a series of activities
and events, highlighting and celebrating career
education, that took place April 23-28, 2007. |
|
| The TRWIB
has articulated work
ready competencies [PDF] associated with entry-level positions in our region and is working with youth service providers to incorporate these competencies into their training programs. This document includes complete work ready competencies with cross-walk to other relevant work readiness standards. |
|
| The TRWIB
oversees the local network of PA CareerLink® centers that serve jobseekers,
including youth. |
|
The TRWIB
works with the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny
County to procure employment and training
services for WIA-eligible youth. Download a complete list of youth programs by clicking on the above links. |
|
| The TRWIB
was instrumental in launching and continues
to support the Regional
Internship Center (RIC) of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Operated by the Coro Center for Civic Leadership,
the RIC works with employers to develop programs
and connect them with potential interns from
colleges and universities across the region. |
These activities are overseen by the TRWIB's Youth Policy Council.
