"The
Regional Internship Center (RIC) of Southwestern
Pennsylvania's 2005 Update" describes
the work of the RIC, an initiative of the
Coro Center for Civic Leadership and the TRWIB.
The RICs primary mission is to increase
the number of companies that offer internships
in southwestern PA. The RIC provides resources
and expertise to employers and prospective
interns.
The
TRWIB Program Committee's "WIA
Training Report" was presented at
the November 2005 board meeting.
The
distinction between the TRWIB and TRWIB, Inc.
is described in a presentation entitled "Different
Roles/Same Members" which was presented
at the November 2005 board meeting.
The
TRWIB has published a report entitled "Job
Access in the Cranberry Area: Critical Issues
Affecting Economic Development and Workforce
Development in Southwestern Pennsylvania."
The report, based on a study conducted by
the TRWIB and several partners, examines the
"spatial mismatch" that separates
workers from jobs in this region. (Executive

Call
Center Cluster Project: Initial Outreach Report
(May 2000) Outreach was conducted
to Pittsburgh area call centers and customer
service training programs via contacts obtained
through the Commission for Workforce Excellence,
the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board,
and other workforce development agencies for
the primary purposes of: 1) identifying opportunities
to improve the connections between HR supply
and demand for the Call Center Industry Cluster
in the Pittsburgh region; and 2) assessing
interest in convening a Customer Service and
Call Center Advisory Group to enter additional
project phases.
"Taking
Pennsylvania's Workforce Development System
into the Future" (11/2002)
The County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania
and the Pennsylvania Association of Workforce
Investment Boards have issued a joint policy
position paper designed to be used at the
State level to inform the gubernatorial transition
and at the Federal level to inform the reauthorization
of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998

guide, developed by the United Way of Allegheny
County, covers everything from job search
help to programs that can help with mortgages,
child care, budget counseling and more.
TANF
Roundtable Discussion (3/6/2001) The
TRWIB and the University of Pittsburgh's Institute
of Politics held a roundtable discussion on
the upcoming reauthorization of the federal
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
program. The group also raised a number of
issues that merit additional attention, including
the need for better tracking of current and
former TANF recipients and problems with the
implementation of various programs intended
