Education
- Allegheny County Immigrant and International Advisory Council was established to advise the Director and Executive Staff of the Department of Human Services regarding the human service needs of immigrant and international county residents. Representing diverse groups in Allegheny County, the Advisory Council identifies issues of concern, important changes in needs of the immigrant and international community and general ideas for improving the Department's mission to be culturally competent and inclusive.
- Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is a human service agency and network of not-for-profit businesses whose mission is to help people with special needs to overcome barriers to employment and enjoy the dignity and benefits of work and improved quality of life. Goodwill and its affiliates employ more than 900 people, making it one of the largest and most diverse social and human service organizations in the region.
- Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council is a national leader in adult education and family literacy. We provide educational programs to 6,200 adults and families each year in the Pittsburgh area. In addition, we serve another 8,000 learners in other cities around the nation through our AmeriCorps program. Our students become better parents, workers, and citizens as a result of these programs.
- World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh promotes, on a non-partisan basis, understanding of important international issues, throughout the community and with a special focus on the region's secondary schools.
Employment
- Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh is the primary social service agency of the Diocese of Pittsburgh serving all regardless of religious affiliation, at their time of greatest need.
- Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh, Career Development Center (CDC) has helped over 16,000 job seekers with their employment needs. The CDC continues to meet the ever-changing needs of the region's diverse workforce by serving the entire community, from recent college graduates to mature workers, from Pittsburgh natives to new immigrants, and from those who have just experienced a layoff to people who just want to change careers.
- The Hispanic Center, Inc. recruits, trains, provides employment referrals services to, and retain individuals in Southwestern Pennsylvania (SWPA), by promoting skill enrichment, career opportunities and personal development of Hispanic individuals and their families.
- Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce provides regional business opportunities which allow economic growth, while simultaneously advocating, promoting, and facilitating the success of Hispanic businesses.
- Welcome Center for Immigrants and Internationals has been established to provide global citizens with the help they need to feel more comfortable--and at home—in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
