Visibility for your company;
Career education for youth
E4 Help prepare
young people for life after school. Get
your company in front of the future workforce.
Inside the busy classroom,
it can be difficult for students to envision
the opportunities outside. As our region
faces the challenge of an aging workforce,
now is the time to look at those who will
be eager to start their new career in your
company.
Our staff is dedicated
to facilitating the connection between schools,
service providers, and your organization's
workplace in a simple and straightforward
manner. E4 will provide you with all the
resources necessary to make these experiences
positive and results-oriented, with facilitated
trainings, manuals and guides.
As an employer, you
can participate in a number of ways:
- Make a presentation
at a school, attend a career fair, or
lead a webinar about your industry, organization,
and position, including key responsibilities.
- Provide a job shadowing
experience for a student who will come
to your workplace and shadow
an employee for one day, learning about
the industry, organization, and specific
positions. The student will demonstrate
what he or she has learned through a reflective
assignment.
- Become an e-Mentor
and commit to email correspondence with
a student about career development topics,
your own career path, and guidance about
the students plan for finding his/her
way after completing high school.
- Host an "educator
in the workplace" to stimulate thinking
about real world applications for the
classroom curriculum. By observing and
experiencing your workplace, the educator
will help students understand how the
classroom curriculum relates to the real
world or work.
- Host a Cisco Academy
student in your IT department, as a job
shadower and/or intern. You will benefit
from providing the student with IT training
as you give him or her an opportunity
to experience your workplace.
- Join the hundreds
of employers who have used the Regional
Internship Center of Southwestern Pennsylvania
to find an intern from one of our regions
colleges and universities and learn firsthand
how an intern can add value to your workplace.
