WorkReady Pittsburgh

Why WorkReady?

Imagine! Your Career WorkReady Student of the Week ...

India W.

Meet India W., this week's Imagine! Your Career WorkReady Student of the Week.

India, 17, is interning this summer at the United Way of Allegheny County. In her first week with the United Way, India addressed an audience of more than 300 Highmark leaders.

India's supervisor, Alicia Chatkin, says "attendees were inspired by India's poise, humor and heartfelt remarks. She spoke to the group about the importance of their United Way support and how their support creates opportunities for students like her and tens of thousands of young people across our region to be the best that they can be."

The Imagine! Your Career WorkReady Student of the Week, sponsored by the Citizens Bank Foundation, recognizes the young man or young woman who shows what it means to be work ready. Resourceful, eager to learn, contributing and dependable, the Imagine! Your Career WorkReady Student of the Week goes above and beyond his or her internship responsibilities. Selected interns receive prizes including Kennywood Park tickets or movie passes.

India speaks highly of the opportunities the WorkReady® Pittsburgh program offers.

"Through my WorkReady internship, I am getting hands-on, real-life corporate work experience. I'm using the skills I have learned so far and developing new skills too," she said. "I plan to take full advantage of these opportunities.

India plans to attend Chatham University to study architecture.
